About MWRTA

The MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA) is a regional public transit authority in Massachusetts providing bus and paratransit service to sixteen communities in the Boston MetroWest. The MWRTA began service on July 1, 2007, to fill a void in public transportation service. MWRTA provides public transportation service to business and commercial hubs across the MetroWest region.

Autism Welcoming Information

MWRTA is Autism WelcomingSM certified and is proud to support individuals with autism. They offer curb-to-curb service to eligible residents having a physical, cognitive, or mental disability within a 3/4-mile radius of a fixed route regular bus service. This paratransit service does not follow fixed routes or schedules and is provided via a call-ahead multi-passenger shuttle. This program allows disabled residents of MWRTA communities to be picked up at their houses and shuttled to any other location within or bordering the MWRTA service region, such as other residences, grocery stores, hospitals, or job sites. Autism Welcoming training was provided to MWRTA Travel Training team. Travel training program is a free-to-the-public service open to anyone 12 years of age or older who would like to learn how to use the MWRTA Fixed Routes to increase access to employment, personal, social, and/or recreational opportunities. MWRTA travel training program is designed to fit each individual’s interests, abilities, needs, and travel goals.  The MWRTA travel trainer individually designs each training session to complement the learning style, skill set, and comfort level of each individual.
